WFD Street Classes

Waltham has more than 700 streets, each one with various hydrant locations, address/number breaks, one way or other restrictions and traffic patterns that become incredibly important when we are asked to respond to an emergency. To help us perform our jobs as fire fighters, we must master the maps and streets of Waltham. This is often accomplished through street classes at the fire stations, where we use a combination of classroom instruction and on road driving to reinforce street locations. We also have put together detailed maps of the city that are carried on every fire apparatus. These tools help guide us to calls wherever and whenever we are needed.
