Local Emergency Planning Committee(LEPC)

The Waltham Fire Prevention Office provides critical information and support to the Local Emergency Planning Committee, LEPC. This group is responsible for developing proper response to possible disasters, mass casualty incidents or other emergencies related to chemical spills/releases.  Such incidents could threaten the public safety of residents in the City of Waltham and surrounding communities. In accordance with the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act of 1986, the City of Waltham has identified locations where hazardous materials are stored, used, and transported.  Under Sections 311-312 of this act, the community has a right to know information about hazardous chemicals in their city, in an easily accessible form. This group is designed to streamline repsonse and coordinate the many local, state and federal emergency response and support staff.
